Preparing this Advent - Dec. 21

Week of December 21

Check out this video of Marc and Molly discussing Christmas, the Eucharist, Thor, and Star Wars.

Did you know that the 12 days of Christmas BEGIN on Christmas, December 25, and continue through the Epiphany (the Visit of the Magi) on January 6?  Use the ideas and learning points in the article at this link to celebrate Christmas throughout the season.  Even though the article is 10 years old, the content is meaningful and relevant today.
Pray
  • After Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas morning, put baby Jesus in his manger.  Pray the attached "Blessing of the Creche" and sing Away in a Manger.  The lyrics to the song and a simple video can be found at this link.
  • As a family, spend some time this week meditating and imagining what it was like for Mary and Joseph to go on the trip to Bethlehem.  Use the attached directions and meditation titled "One Starry Night in Bethlehem."
  • If you have the Magnificat Advent Companion, be sure to check out the Prayer Before a Christmas Stable (p. 50) and the Advent Stations (p. 53)! The Advent Stations are kind of like the Stations of the Cross but instead of walking with Jesus on His way to the Cross, we walk with the ancestors of Jesus as they await God's coming to earth!

Christmas is all about Presence (not presents)! God has come close to us to share His love with us and wants us to spread that love to others. Ask the Lord to show you who He wants to share His love with through you this Christmas!
