The SACRAMENTS are first and foremost celebrations of the Church. In uniting us with Christ, they strengthen our relationships with each other in the local community. It is within the context of the community celebration of the sacraments that we come to know ourselves as a people united in God and called to be witnesses of His love to the world. Each time we celebrate a sacrament we celebrate God’s presence and love. The sacraments give us an image of who God is and what God hopes for us. The sacraments tell the world who we are and who we hope to be—a community that lives in God’s love and reflects that love to others.
